v Wadebridge 3rds ('H')
2nds suffer Sunday defeat.
Due to Wadebridge 3rd XI's ground at St Kew Highway not quite ready given the awful weather that set upon the county during the early part of 2014, it was arranged for the 2nds game to be played at the Deer Park. After some morning showers it thankfully cleared up and play was able to start on time at 2 o'clock.
Boconnoc batted first and got off to a steady start which was made difficult with the conditions to get the ball away. Keith Sturgess would be caught by Chris Gill at mid-off just before drinks. Rob Hemmings would be ran out shortly after. This brought to the crease Jonny Pusey (15) who along with Dave Smith (62) would provide the backbone to the innings until Pusey was removed. Smith would depart shortly after and sadly the incoming batsmen would come and go. In the end they posted 131.
After tea, Hauke Moll and Matt Grubb would open the bowling, Moll bowled his eight overs in one spell and was tidy but didn't take a wicket after picking up a brace the previous week. Mike Rawbone would come on first change and pick up an LBW and then Jordan Hembrow took a catch off his bowling after covering a fair bit of ground. It so nearly could of been three for Rawbone when the home side went up in unison for a caught behind which the umpire gave not out. Wadebridge 3rds would lose 3 wickets in their chase for victory.
Bank holiday Monday saw the 2nds entertain South Petherwin 2nds and on Saturday, they'll make the trip to newly promoted Milton Abbott.
